EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON SHEAR RESISTING PROPERTIES OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE COMPOSITE HOLLOW CORE SLABS

  • A new type of composite hollow core slabs was put forward combining the advantages of cast-in-situ hollow core slabs and composite slabs. Three parallel tests with 10 specimens were conducted. Different layouts of tube filler, prefabricated panel form, stirrup, ribs and the tube filler spacing, were studied to investigate their effects on the shear behavior of the composite hollow core slabs. The bonding strength between the slab and the topping was also evaluated based on the load-deformation curve, the shear bearing capacity and the strain of stirrup. Results indicated that the shear bearing capacity of the slab in the longitudinal hollow core strip was higher than that of the slab in the transverse hollow core strip. The precast ribs improved the shear performance and the horizontal shear strength. Regardless of the prefabricated panel forms and the layout of the tube filler, the bonding strength between the slab and the topping was adequate. Based on the experimental results, a method to estimate the shear bearing capacity of the composite hollow core slabs, in terms of concrete strength grade, the lamination position, the ribs and the tube filler spacing, was recommended.
