RESEARCH ON DYNAMIC CRUSHING OF LAYERED YIELDING STRESS-GRADIENT CIRCULAR HONEYCOMBS

  • Based on the concept of functionally gradient materials,a model of a layered yielding stress gradient circular honeycomb is developed. The effects of yielding stress gradient and impact velocity on the deformation modes and energy absorption capacities of circular honeycombs are discussed. The research results show that the deformation modes of circular honeycombs change with different yielding stress gradients. The dynamic response curves of layered yielding stress-gradient circular honeycombs show piecewise platforms under moderate and low compact velocities. Through the proper adjustment of the yielding stress gradient,the initial stress peak can be reduced, the values of the stresses transmitted into the structures can be greatly reduced,and the energy absorption can be controlled effectively. These results can provide valuable suggestions in the study and design of the functionally gradient honeycombs.
