THE SIMULATION AND ANALYSIS OF THE COLLAPSE OF A FRAME-SUPPORTED MASONRY STRUCTURE UNDER FIRE

  • The fire-induced collapse of building structures is the mechanical behavior of entire structural systems. Due to the difficulty in the fire test for overall structural systems, numerical simulation is an important method to study the global behaviors of structures under fire. The fiber beam model, multi-layer shell model and elemental deactivation technology that allows for the effect of high temperature are used to simulate a real fire-induced collapse accident of a frame-supported masonry building. The primary reason of the collapse is pointed out. Design recommendations to improve of the progressive collapse resistance of building structures are also proposed based on the numerical results.
