STUDY ON ASEISMIC BEHAVIOR OF REINFOCED CONCRETE FRAME-CORE WALL STRUCTURES

  • To study the effects of a floor system, the inner core walls, the application of the steel reinforced concrete (SRC) columns on the behavior of RC frame-core wall structures, several RC frame-core wall structure models were designed according to the China in-force design codes and comparisons among the different designed structure models were carried out. It is proposed that reducing the weight of structures is an efficient way to improve the aseismic performance of structures. The nonlinear behavior of the designed structures was analyzed by Push-over method using Perform 3D. The plastic-hinge development histories of components, the plastic deformation levels, the strains of the concrete and the reinforcement fibers were carefully checked. The predicted results indicate that the coupling beams in inner core walls are the first yielding and energy-dissipating elements in the system. The inner core walls can increase the structure lateral stiffness and the energy dissipation capacity.
