STRESS FIELD ANALYSIS OF FUNCTIONALLY GRADED MATERIAL FROZEN SOIL WALL IN DOUBLE-ROW-PIPE SHAFT FREEZING

  • The frozen soil wall in double-row-pipe shaft freezing can be equivalent to an infinite-long functionally graded material (FGM) thick cylinder with properties that are trapezoid-shaped distributed through the thickness. By analytically solving this kind of thick cylinder under a uniform load, the elastic analytical solution was obtained. Meanwhile, the plastic analytical solution was derived by employing Mohr-Coulomb yield criterion. Based on the analytical solutions mentioned, the stress field of frozen soil wall in double-row-pipe shaft freezing was analyzed. The result was further compared with that of a homogeneous model to reflect some mechanical characteristics of frozen wall with FGM property. Finally, some suggestions regarding to the design and construction of frozen soil wall were proposed.
