A NONLINEAR MODEL FOR SPATIAL SHEAR WALLS

  • Complex reinforced concrete shear walls are usually used in tall buildings, especially in China seismic regions. How to simulate the mechanical behaviors of these walls is important to elastic-plastic analysis for tall buildings. Based on two-spring model, a nonlinear model for spatial walls is proposed. In this model, the axial, bending and shear plastic deformation of the walls can be considered, while the deformation coordination of the node connected the wall-wall and beam-wall is also considered. To validate the proposed model, comparison is made between analytical and experimental load-displacement responses under cyclic loadings. The analysis is in good agreement with experimental results and show that the model proposed in this paper has less degrees of freedom and higher accuracy. This model offers a feasible analysis method which is fit for the stages of primary design and entire performance evaluation of complex reinforced concrete shear walls.
