EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE FAILURE PATTERN OF EXPANDED PLATES OF THE SQUEEZED BRANCH PILE

  • By using a YAW-5000 computer controlling electric liquid servo pressure testing machine, loading tests were conducted for the model samples of expanded plates. The total load -displacement curves for expanded plates of the squeezed branch pile were obtained first time. The test results show that the failure pattern of expanded plates belongs to the oblique compressing failure under the testing conditions. According to the experimental results, the bearing capacity calculation formulae of expanded plates are set up considering the factors including the concrete strength, the ratio of the diameter of expanded plates to that of the pile, and the ratio of height to width of expanded plate. This study further consummates the theory of the strength design and calculation for expanded plates of squeezed branch piles.
