DESIGN METHOD OF BEARING CAPACITY FOR CONCRETE FILLED STEEL TUBE ARCH STRUCTURES

  • According to the design code “Technical Specification for Steel Arch Structure”, this paper discusses the design method of concrete filled steel tube (CFST) arch structures. A comparison of results calculated using the design code with the tested CFST arch structures shows that the former has a good agreement with the test results. Typical example was presented, comparing the bearing capacity of CFST arch structures with corresponding steel arch structures. The results indicated that the bearing capacity of CFST arch structures filled with concrete was improved considerably over that of hollow steel arch structures.
