PERFORMANCE OF CONCRETE-FILLED STEEL TUBULAR (CFST) MEMBERS UNDER LOW VELOCITY TRANSVERSE IMPACT

  • A finite element analysis (FEA) model is developed to predict the behaviour of concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) members under a low velocity transverse impact, in which the strain rate effects of steel and concrete components and the interaction between steel and concrete interfaces are considered. The test results are used to verify the accuracy of the model. It is found that it can predict the test results with reasonable accuracy. The influences of key parameters that may influence the impact resistance of the member are investigated.
