REINFORCEMENT EXPERIMENT AND SIMULATION ANALYSIS ON BRICK MASONRY OF HISTORICAL BUILDINGS

  • The reinforcement experiment and simulation analysis of a wall structure have been carried on in this paper, in view of low-strength mortar in the extant historical character buildings in Tianjin. 2 test pieces of brick masonry wall and 2 reinforced pieces with steel-meshed cement mortar layers were manufactured with original material to carry on a low frequency cyclic loading test and study the seismic performance. The representative volume element (RVE) method was applied to brick masonry, obtaining its equivalent parameters. Low frequency cyclic loading test of the reinforced brick masonry pieces was simulated with ANSYS, and a comparative analysis with the test results has been carried on, confirming the practicability of the reinforcement method mentioned by this paper and offering technical support for the reinforcement of historical character buildings.
