NONLINEAR FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF WALL STRUCTURE FILLED WITH VISCOELASTIC MATERIAL

  • Based on the passive control design, the slit which is set up in the wall is filled with viscoelastic material. Then this kind of shear wall member is applied to an eight-story reinforced concrete shear wall structure. By the finite element software ABAQUS, the structural elastic-plastic finite element model is established and its seismic performance is simulated. The impact of slit in the wall and how the viscoelastic material in the slit to control the structure are studied. The results show that the slit reduces structural stiffness and increases the structural displacement response. But the slit is favorable to reducing the structural bottom response and changing the damage distribution. After filling viscoelastic material in slit, the structural seismic response can be controlled and structural damage is reduced. Thusly, this kind of shear wall member has a good sense of practical application.
