THE INVESTIGATION INTO THREE-DIMENSIONAL MESOSCALE MODELLING OF FULLY-GRADED CONCRETE

  • Based on the meso-structure of concrete, the mixed congruential algorithm to generate a random number was applied to simulate the randomness of aggregate in shape and spatial distributions. According to the law of composition and distribution of different gradation aggregates with different sizes, a highly efficient algorithm of three-dimensional aggregate growth and convex judgment were proposed. In order to avoid the emergence of a sharp corner and thin sheet aggregate, a new method of aggregate shape control was developed. The proposed integrated packing algorithm has highly efficiency in increasing the good rate of first packing and the volume content of aggregate, and reduces the computational time greatly. In the process of three-dimensional finite element mesh, the proposed vector method could improve the computational efficiency of the discrimination of material attributes. The examples show that the proposed mesoscale model has a high reliability in simulating the static and impact responses of concrete.
